Bingen, Wash. – Roy-G-Biv Corp. announced October 26, 2001 its partnership with Galil Motion . In this relationship Roy-G-Biv offers its XMC ‘eXtensions for Motion Control’ software products to Galil Motion customers to enhance connectivity and integration capabilities of their motion control products and systems.

Fred Borelli, Director of Business Development for Roy-G-Biv emphasizes that, ‘ Roy-G-Biv’s mission is to continue adding integrated XMC packages for our suite of motion control products allowing Galil Motion customers to better select ‘best in class’ non-motion equipment that fully integrates and or provides basic connection to Galil Motion controllers

Galil Motion is a manufacturer of programmable motion controller products since 1983. It offers its motion controllers in many formats including PCI, ISA, PC/104 and VME card-level products or as stand-alone controllers with RS232 and Ethernet interfaces.

RGB’s XMC for Visual Studio is the only commercial software solution that transforms Microsoft’s Visual Studio into an open architecture motion control software development environment. The result is a motion development environment for more efficient integration of Galil motion control products into automation applications. XMC for Visual Studio provides a set of fully integrated configuration, programming, and debugging tools that support numerous controllers.

XMC is also used to provide basic connectivity and or full integration of Galil Motion controllers to other non-motion control equipment such as PC-based control, HMI, MES, I/O, Vision Systems, and other information management systems. For example, RGB’s XMC for ControlPak provides open motion control architecture for Rockwell Software’s ControlPak suite of soft logic and HMI software products.

For web-centric manufacturing operations trying to get basic connectivity to and from Galil Motion products, Roy-G-Biv offers its XMC for OPC Data Access Server. The XMC OPC Data Access Server provides direct access via the open motion XMC platform to the configuration, status, variable settings, and position/feedback information of various commercial PC-based and standalone motion controllers offered from Galil Motion. XMC OPC Server can access motion devices such as single and multi-axis stepper and servo controllers on popular bus architectures such as PCI, ISA, PC-104, and USB. Stand-alone controllers connected via RS-232 or proprietary wiring schemes are also included.
