RTKL grows mission critical team

RTKL has made two additions to its growing mission critical team: Rajan Battish and Shan-té Johnson.

11/30/2010

Global architecture, engineering and urban design practice RTKL has made two additions to its growing mission critical team: Rajan Battish PE, LEED AP, and Shan-té Johnson, who bring a wealth of industry experience to their roles.

Battish, who rejoins RTKL as a principal charged with leading the studio’s design and engineering capabilities, offers more than 15 years of experience in electrical design with a specialization in power infrastructure for mission critical and 7x24 facilities. He rejoins RTKL from BKM, where he served as the managing principal of BKM Mission Critical Facilities. Prior to BKM, he spent over a decade at RTKL, where he led engineering design on several of the firm’s most notable data center projects, including the Highmark Enterprise Data Center, eBay Enterprise Data Center, and the data center that serves Johns Hopkins University and Hospital.

Johnson, who has more than a decade of engineering, marketing and business development experience, joins the studio as business development manager for mission critical and engineering projects. Prior to joining RTKL, she served as the business development manager for MACTEC, a national environmental, construction services and facilities engineering firm. She also held an account development position at ARCADIS, an international environmental engineering firm, where she oversaw market research and managed the proposal process for a number of the company’s Fortune 500 clientele.

RTKL’s mission critical team offers a variety of capabilities ranging from MEP and structural engineering to architecture and commissioning. As early innovators in sustainable data center design, RTKL patented the ‘Tower of Cool’ technology and later designed Highmark, the first data center to receive both LEED Silver certification from the US Green Building Council and Tier-III certification from the Uptime Institute. Highmark remains the only data center in the country that holds this distinction. The firm also oversaw the full range of design services for eBay’s recently completed 60,000-SF, Tier IV data center in Salt Lake City, Utah, and 3000 Skyline, a 700,000-SF co-location facility in Mesquite, Texas.
