Rugged instruments withstand seawater, other extreme conditions

Parylene coating on Baumer pressure transmitters protects against corrosion in seawater or with aggressive media and increases the life cycle of the measuring devices. RDP Electrosense has released its S Series Submersible LVDT Displacement Transducers for long-term underwater applications.

Baumer offers the pressure transmitter E610 with a universal configuring interface, FlexProgrammer 9701.

The Baumer sensors with metal thin film membranes are made of high-quality stainless steel. Membrane and sensor parts contacting media need protection from crevice corrosion. Abrasion-proof coating is durable at a continuous operating temperature up to 150 °C. RDP Electrosense SSA Seawater Submersible LVDT Displacement Transducer

RDP Electrosense sensors feature heavy construction and can withstand harsh industrial applications and 10 years of seawater submersion at a depth of up to 7,550 feet. The Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) principle makes the SS Series robust and reliable. There is no electrical contact across the transducer position-sensing element, thus providing clean data, infinite resolution, and an extended life for the unit.
The product is made of welded 316-stainless steel with a through bore. Nonmagnetic fluids can flood the armature tube without affecting transducer operation, so use in applications that require long-term submersion is possible. Applications include offshore oil drilling platforms; position monitoring of undersea trenches used in burying cables; undersea tunnels; and monitoring underwater sections of bridges and other structures.
