Göteborg, Sweden - The new Saab TankRadar Rex tank gauging system has been approved for legal custody transfer in Belgium.

The certificate, issued by the Belgian Ministry of Finance, allows the gauging system to be used for automatic custody transfer verification, billing purposes, tax and duties calculations. The certification eliminates the need for time consuming hand dips or mass flow measuring, according to the manufacturer Saab Rosemount.

An accuracy of at least 2 mm over a 30 m measuring range is required to get the certificate. Saab Rosemount claims its instrument has an accuracy of 0.5 mm.

The approval includes all available antenna types, the operator's software and other system units, and is valid for all types of liquids and tank types.

Since 1995, Saab has received field custody transfer approvals for a large number of tanks at refineries in Belgium.

Saab Rosemount (then called Saab Marine) invented radar level gauging 1972. Today, the company employs 320 people and has distributors worldwide.
