F13 compactPCI PowerPC single-board computer (SBC) can be configured with a MPC8540 or MPC8560 next-generation 833 MHz PowerQuicc III processor from Freescale Semiconductor, depending on the application. Intended to provide connectivity and processing capabilities for embedded communications or networking equipment, the SBC is equipped with an Altera Cyclone FPGA (field-programmable gate array), a device used to implement multiple parameterized blocks of intellectual property (IP), reducing design and test time for application-specific I/O points or other functionality. It is suited as a control element for network routers, storage subsystems, network appliances, and print and imaging devices.
