An imaging development kit targeted at field programmable gate array (FPGA) processing for high-performance imaging applications was one of several introductions by SBS Technologies Inc. (Albuquerque, NM) at ESC Boston. Named TS-DK-IT01, the kit includes infrastructure software, development environment, and Camera Link or LVDS mezzanine I/O board for custom image-processing applications.

Pricing for SBS Technologies’ FPGA processing development kit starts at $7,500.

An imaging development kit targeted at field programmable gate array (FPGA) processing for high-performance imaging applications was one of several introductions by SBS Technologies Inc . (Albuquerque, NM) at ESC Boston. Named TS-DK-IT01, the kit includes infrastructure software, development environment, and Camera Link or LVDS mezzanine I/O board for custom image-processing applications. Also part of TS-DK-IT01 is SBS Tsunami, a computing platform that uses multiple FPGAs as the processing engine built on a high-performance single-board computer.

SBS Technologies considers an FPGA computing solution as the way to go for imaging applications where algorithm complexity and data rate processing need the use of multiple CPUs or DSPs. The developers’ kit of hardware and software components is said to boost performance and cut costs of FPGA computing projects.
