Schneider buys Quantronix; joint ventures with Toshiba

Schneider Electric announced June 29 the acquisition of Quantronix Inc. (Salt Lake City, Ut., www.cubiscan.com), a 12-year-old cubing and weighing system designer and manufacturer. Terms were not disclosed. Quantronix's static or automated products use non-contact ultrasound, laser, and infrared sensing technologies.

Schneider Electric announced June 29 the acquisition of Quantronix Inc. (Salt Lake City, Ut., www.cubiscan.com ), a 12-year-old cubing and weighing system designer and manufacturer. Terms were not disclosed. Quantronix’s static or automated products use non-contact ultrasound, laser, and infrared sensing technologies. Schneider Electric plans to offer Quantronix’s products via its European distribution channels. In other news, Schneider announced a 60-40% joint venture with Toshiba for developing ac inverters, with 470 employees expected to grow to 550 at three subsidiaries in Houston, Tex., France and Japan.
