Schneider Electric and Krohne present combined pipeline management solution

Combined product and services are said to improve pipeline performance and safety through energy management, integral security, advanced process automation, and a pipeline instrumentation package.

Schneider Electric and Krohne have collaborated on a new pipeline management solution that is being unveiled this week at Gastech 2009 in Abu Dhabi. The combined product and services solution is designed to help midstream process customers in the oil and gas industries enhance pipeline performance and safety through energy management, integral security, advanced process automation, and a pipeline instrumentation package.
According to the two companies, the combined solution operates via a collaboration-enabled, open and scalable architecture platform that allows monitoring and managing of pipeline operations with increased security and safety.
Real-time monitoring and automation is achieved through the Schneider Electric’s SCADA system; safety is handled with Schneider PLCs and RTUs; equipment assets are protected with cathodic protection monitoring; integral security systems use CCTV and automated access control; and Schneider Electric’s advanced systems energy management is used to optimize energy consumption and improve performance.
Krohne will provide the pipeline instrumentation, including custody transfer flow measurement products as well as its pipeline leakage detection system.
