San Jose, Calif. The west coast edition of Sensors Expo 2002 featured numerous innovations on May 21-23. Advanced Embedded Systems (Marana, Ariz.) unveiled RT12-4204 wireless transceiver designed to link remote sensors to data acquisition inputs. Operating in the license-free ISM band at either 900 MHz or 2.4 GHz, the devices maintain the same signal as the original sensor. Baumer Electric (Southington, Conn.) showed three new product families at the Sensors Expo, a family of miniature ultrasonic sensors, a family of miniature inductive sensors, and a 36-bit multi-turn optical rotary encoder. National Instruments (Austin, Tex.) announced version 6.1 of its Vision Development software, which engineers and scientists can use to create embedded vision systems for applications such as automated inspection and alignment in manufacturing.
