Advancing Technology: Electric servo precision for tube bending – Actuated by servo motors, this new breed of CNC machines boasts as many as 15 motion axes on some models.

The following is a short of list manufacturers active in the all-electric tube bending (see photo) machine marketplace worldwide. These manufacturers also make traditional hydraulic-powered machines for the larger market sector that currently serves heavier-duty tube and pipe applications. Most manufacturers also produce a hybrid bending machine that incorporates a combination of hydraulic-powered and electric-powered functions.

GKN Aerospace’s wing component facility produces complex aircraft tubular parts with up to 19 bends, using Unison all-electric tube benders. www.gknaerospace.com
