Pittsburgh , PA — Motor Insight, a new solid-state overload relay from Eaton Corp., delivers solid-state motor protection, control and advanced monitoring capabilities in a single device. The unit lets users configure the type and level of protection required for varied applications, including those in petrochemical, mining, water and wastewater industries.

Motor Insight features solid-state line, load, and motor protection with ground fault detection, power voltage and current monitoring and flexible communications, and it allows adjustments to be made to overload settings without disconnecting power. In addition, it(SPDT) fault relay and one form A single pole single throw (SPST) ground fault relay.

Motor Insight has an IP20 rated terminal block– minimizing shock hazards –and a user interface with a bright light emitting diode (LED) display. With add-ons, including a remote display and multiple communications adapters, customers can choose among a spectrum of protocols, including DeviceNet, Modbus, Profibus, and EtherNet/IP, as well asinput/output options.

The overload relay includes one external remote reset terminal as well as a trip status indicator. The unit is Underwriters Laboratories (UL) listed, Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certified, and meets the National Electrical Manufacturer Association (NEMA) and Conformite Europeenne (CE) standards. In addition, the device is Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliant. Its robust design is suited for applications with high line conditions and poor power quality. It can be used in applications including: coal-bed methane well pumps, low-speed mixers, can motor pumps, mag-drive pumps, centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps and belt-driven loads.

Motor Insight is the first offering from Eaton’s Intelligent Power Control Solutions family. Eaton’s electrical product line brands include Cutler-Hammer, Moeller, Powerware, Holec, MEM, Santak, and MGE Office Protection Systems.
