New Berlin, Wis.— ABB’s new generation dc drive, DCS 400, is economical and extremely compact, claims the company. ABB’s new digital six pulse “Smart Drive” is available as a nonregenerative or regenerative unit, and covers 5-500 hp range, with input voltages of 230-500 V at 50/60 Hz, and an output current range of 20-820 A dc. DCS 400 is a “smart” drive because it’s designed from, and responds to the views and needs of OEM’s and dc motor owners. Power cables are located at the bottom, rather than the side, so it fits easily into any retrofit space, freeing up panel space so OEMs can integrate more or other accessories.
