Software download creates protection for data stored on BlackBerry, microSD

JumpVault, with microSD security features, keeps data safe even if devices are lost or stolen. This is more applicable to manufacturing IT operations as facilities incorporate smart phones into plant- and engineering-based mobile computing and communications.

JumpVault, QuQuickVault JumpVaultickVault’s latest release in microSD security acts similarly to a safe at a bank: a new software download for BlackBerry and similar mobile devices with microSD storage creates electronic vaults to safeguard vital, sometimes proprietary information from getting into the wrong hands should devices become lost or stolen. This is more applicable to manufacturing IT operations as facilities incorporate smart phones into plant- and engineering-based mobile computing and communications.

JumpVault software addresses microSD security concerns from a growing number of businesses that rely on their employees to use BlackBerry, microSD, USB flash drives and other mobile devices to transport and transfer data.

“JumpVault actually transforms an ordinary USB flash or mobile device such as a BlackBerry into a secure virtual container,” says Steve White, co-founder of Georgia-based QuickVault, Inc., which created JumpVault. “It’s password-protected and offers the option for forensic tracking the movement of mobile data files brings a whole new level to microSD security.”

Visa recently certified a microSD card-based contactless payment system that allows Visa card issuers to install a Visa mobile payment application onto a special microSD card. The card can then be inserted into a smartphone and used for contactless payments.

“As consumers adopt microSD-based mobile payments, the number of mobile devices capable of storing sensitive data will significantly increase” says QuickVault, Inc. Board Chairman Rusty Gordon adding that “JumpVault fully protects information on any mobile storage device with microSD storage—no matter the file size or type.”

The product also functions as a backup unit for laptops and workstations often overlooked by enterprise business continuity and disaster recovery programs. That means contracts, proposals, business plans, personal documents, confidential documents, spreadsheets and legal documents can be protected on mobile storage devices.

Sarbanes Oxley, Payment Card Industry (PCI) and the US Health Insurance Accountability and Portability Act (HIPPA) require that record holders safeguard certain types of information. JumpVault’s unique data loss prevention features protect mobile data from unauthorized access or disclosure. As a microSD security solution, JumpVault is fully contained on the microSD card and operates across a variety of computer operating systems including Windows 7, Vista, and MAC.
