Software for cross-directional closed-loop control

Phoenix, Ariz.— IntelliMap v. 3 software allows top-to-bottom tuning of cross directional (CD) paper machine control parameters using Da Vinci Quality Control Systems. IntelliMap uses neural network technology to determine the shape of the process response as well as distinguish between process response and noise.

Phoenix, Ariz.— IntelliMap v. 3 software allows top-to-bottom tuning of cross directional (CD) paper machine control parameters using Da Vinci Quality Control Systems. IntelliMap uses neural network technology to determine the shape of the process response as well as distinguish between process response and noise. IntelliMap automatically performs predetermined process bump tests to calculate mapping and tuning parameters. It also determines and displays true cutoff wavelength and period of the actuator's performance limitations. During tuning, a prediction of the closed-loop performance response is displayed so operators are aware of expected performance prior to transferring tuning parameters to the CD controller. One display slider lets operators apply more or less aggressive control. IntelliMap is said to be capable of handling non-linear shrinkage, a significant control problem with wide paper machines. IntelliMap also adds two-dimensional loop shaping to provide automatic determination of the optimum settings for stable, responsive CD control. www.iac.honeywell.com Honeywell
