Billed as the first North American trade event to focus on electric automation technologies for industrial applications, the first SPS Electric Automation America trade show included many industrial networking and automation component solutions at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center near Chicago. SPS Electric Automation America is the North American counterpart to the annual, Germany-based SPS/IPC/Drives tradeshow. This year’s SPS/IPC/Drives show will be held Nov. 22-24 in Nuremberg.

Some of the most significant exhibits of SPS Electric Automation America, held May 23-26, 2005, included:

  • Contemporary Controls reports that its EICP_M compact Ethernet switches offer management features for industrial applications in the 0-60 °C temperature range. Models also offer RapidRing technology for applications needing redundancy. These switches support all copper or twisted-pair with fiber-optics using SC or ST connectors.

  • Ethernet Powerlink Standardization Group (EPSG) adds that its Ethernet Powerlink (EPL) is the only available real-time, industrial Ethernet protocol with microsecond precision. EPSG adds that its protocol is based purely on international standards with more than 60,000 installed EPL nodes operating trouble-free in machines worldwide.

  • Lumberg Inc . reports that its new Fast Track industrial wiring solutions program is a complete, standardized connectivity solution. Designed to address most industrial wiring requirements, Fast Track includes more than 70 product variations, of which 25 are new products never before offered by Lumberg. These products are in stock and available for immediate shipment in one business day or less.
