SPS/IPC/Drives 2005 opens with record 1,160 exhibitors
Nuremberg, Germany —“Bustling” would be one way to describe the first impression a visitor got at the opening of the electric automation show SPS/IPC/Drives today in the city of “Die Meistersinger” for a three-day run (Nov. 22-24, 2005).
Leading maufacturers of electric automation technology at this focused Exhibition and Conference display their products and services in these key areas: electric drives/motion control; industrial software; control technology and sensors; industrial communication networks; and mechanical systems and associated peripheral equipment. Main themes of the conference (as well as the exhibition) are Ethernet in Automation , Safety in Automation , and Motion Control .
SPS/IPC/Drives 2005 is building on an enviable record of growth in exhibition space, number of visitors, and number of exhibitors. Show organizer Mesago Messemanagement GmbH announced today that 1,160 exhibitors are participating—which is a new peak. To accommodate this 13% increase over last year, the event requires, for the first time, use of eight halls in Nuremberg’s Exhibition Center. Display space at 73,000 sq m represent a 12% growth compared to 2004. Some 31,800 visitors attended the event in 2004.
It remains to be seen if the show’s attendance momentum over a number of years can be sustained, but judging by the difficulty of navigating some aisles in several halls on the first day, it’s entirely possible.
