Steel mill gets PC-based HMI simulator

Mirador Software released a PC-based simulator of the Rosemount RMV9000 Video Display Unit.

Mirador Software Inc., which specializes in providing replacement solutions for legacy industrial control system components based on reverse engineering, has released a PC-based simulator of the Rosemount RMV9000 Video Display Unit (VDU).

“The simulator software is designed as an economical solution for the maintenance problem posed by these old VDUs, many of which are still in service in critical control applications,” said Chris Rodie, president of Mirador and developer of the software. “Installed on appropriate PC hardware, it can replace the entire VDU chassis .”

Rodie says the simulator has passed field trials at a steel mill in the Midwest and is now ready for general distribution.

Mirador also offers, under license, emulators for a number of other control system VDUs, including Intecolor 8001 and 8800 terminals, Aydin 5215 and 5217 display generators, and Fisher Provox DC6500 VDUs.
