Applied Motion Products introduces STR step motor drives. Available in 4 amp and 8 amp versions, they are DC input drives requiring a step and direction control signal. They feature anti-resonance, microstep emulation, and idle current reduction functions.

The STR drive is compact, measuring only 4.64-in. x 2.97-in. x 1.29-in. Configuration is done entirely with switches. AMP engineers optimized the performance for a number of motors, storing all the configuration parameters on the drive; the motor is selected via a 16-position rotary switch. Custom configurations are available for OEMs wishing to use a different motor.
"We asked our customers what they wanted, and it was a powerful, simple to use drive requiring no software or PC to setup, at a great price," says Jeff Kordik, AMP's chief technical officer. Full product CAD drawings are also available.

Founded in 1978, Applied Motion Products (Watsonville, CA ) offers stepper and brushless servo
motors, positioning control electronics and gearheads to industrial and OEM customers.
