9 a.m. The Digital Plant:

There are two ways to view the digital plant. One is as data interconnected with everybody within an organization. The other is an actual 3-D model of that plant that will give everyone a close up view as to how the plant is operating. We'll take a look at both views of a digital plant and see how they work together and how they can enhance maintenance and productivity.


Speaker:

Robert Shear, Autodesk

Robert Shear is currently the Senior Industry Manager for the Autodesk Plant Solutions Group. In this role he is responsible for aligning Autodesk's strategies with the specific challenges of designing, engineering, operating and maintaining process plants. Prior to Autodesk Robert held senior marketing positions at Dust Networks, the leading provider of wireless sensing technology to the process industries, and Blue Titan Software, a pioneer in Service Oriented Architecture software for manufacturing. Robert started his career designing and deploying offshore research equipment with the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Robert holds a BS in physics from UC San Diego, where he was a National Science Foundation Fellow, and an MBA in marketing from UC Berkeley

11 a.m. Energy and Sustainability:

There has been no more volatile issue for plant managers in the past two years than energy. The discussion continues to evolve past just energy usage into creating a sustainable manufacturing environment that utilizes all energy resources without creating waste. We'll look at how such plants turn energy from a cost center into a profit center.

Darrin Wikoff, Life Cycle Engineering

Darrin Wikoff specializes in Organizational Change Management, Business Process Re-Engineering, Reliability Engineering, and Work Management. For the past seven years, Darrin has continued to coach and mentor many of the world's industrial leaders through the rigorous process of implementing and managing reliability improvement initiatives in support of Lean Manufacturing. Through his ability to combine technical expertise with process improvement methodologies, Darrin has enabled organizations to increase production capacity while significantly reducing maintenance costs. Most recently through Life Cycle Engineering, Darrin has led efforts in North America, Australia, Jamaica, and Brazil as part of Alcoa's global initiative to achieve Reliability Excellence.


Mary T. Bunzel, IBM

For the last 22 years, Ms. Bunzel has been serving the Enterprise Asset Management Community in a variety of roles. After graduation in 1986 from Marquette University Business Administration program, she took on customer support and implementation work, helping maintenance departments become successful with new processes and technologies to support maximum production efficiency through Asset Management, eventually growing into VP and General Manager for the Midwest division of a technology firm in the same field. Leaving management for closer customer involvement was an easy decision and the following 13 years with MRO Software and then with IBM have created the opportunity to work with companies such as 3M, Miller Brewing, Harley Davidson, Target Corporation, ADM, General Motors, Whirlpool, Eli Lilly, Johnson & Johnson, and many more industrial firms to enhance their use of Asset Management tools to become more efficient with their maintenance operations and equipment efficiencies. Today she is serving as IBM's Worldwide Industrial Leader for Manufacturing, a role in which she is able to bring experience and expertise to worldwide organizations.

Rod Ellsworth, Infor

Rod Ellsworth is Infor's Vice President of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Solutions. He brings over 30 years of related energy and enterprise asset management experience and holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and a post graduate Fellowship in Applied Statistics from Miami of Ohio. Prior to joining Infor, he was one of the lead architects of a technology solution that has been adopted by a majority of nuclear energy organizations in the United States. Combining his knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management systems and facility change management, his depth of experience in the energy industry and his keen interest in understanding how managing assets can affect corporate sustainability and profitability, Rod has spearheaded the development and application of Infor's global asset sustainability solution, Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition.


1:30 p.m. - Workforce Development:

Plant Engineering readers have identified workforce development as the number one issue facing them - ahead of energy, taxes and foreign competition. The issue is getting more attention, but it's also becoming more critical. We bring together all the key stakeholders - manufacturers and educators - to look at how this issue needs to be addressed.

Speakers:

Elaine Seat, University of Tennessee

Elaine Seat is on the faculty of the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee. After an extensive career as a design engineer and engineering manager, she moved her professional focus to understanding more about excellence in performance in the working world. She currently teaches basic managerial skills to undergraduates, leadership skills to executives, and conducts research into methods of managerial skills improvement. Seat has a BS and MS in mechanical engineering and is a licensed engineer. She has a PhD in sport psychology from the University of Tennessee. She has been a National Science Foundation Visiting Professor and director of the University of Tennessee's Aerospace MBA program.


Bill Wilder, Life Cycle Engineering

Bill Wilder is the Director of Education at Life Cycle Engineering (LCE). Bill holds a Masters of Education degree from East Tennessee State University. As Director of Education, Bill manages LCE's Life Cycle Institute, the learning source for Reliability Excellence. The Institute was created in response to the need for a life long learning resource for people engaged in optimizing asset reliability and performance. Bill's facilitator's utilize adult learning methods that minimize lecture and emphasize learning by doing. His courses are specifically designed to be "active training" programs. Prior to working with LCE, Bill worked as the Director of Sales and Marketing at Greenville Technical College where he created the Asset Performance Institute in collaboration with Fluor. He established a successful speaking, training and consulting practice focused on communications and sales skills.

Eric Luyer, IBM Software Group

Eric Luyer has global responsibility for managing Industry Marketing activities for the Industrial Manufacturing sector. With more than 25 years' of experience, Eric has developed in-depth expertise in the industry, working in Financial, ERP and Enterprise Asset Management application environments, initially in Europe and the last six years worldwide. Eric Luyer has held senior positions in Sales Management, Indirect Channels, Alliance Partner Management and Industry Marketing - working for software solutions providers as Comshare, Global SSA, Baan/Invensys, MRO Software and currently in IBM.



7:30 p.m. Keynote Address:

Bobby Harrell, Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives

Bobby Harrell, Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives, will present the keynote address on Monday, March 30, during the Product of the Year Awards presentation. As Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives, Bobby Harrell has maintained a laser-beam focus on three key issues: education, tax reduction, and economic development. His keynote address will focus on the state of manufacturing nationwide and how government action will bolster U.S. companies.

9 a.m. Presentation of the 2008 Top Plant Awards

Speaker:

Jamie McDonald, Schneider Electric, Lincoln, NE (Winner of the 2006 Top Plant Award)

Jamie McDonald, Director of Business Development at Schneider Electric, will be delivering the Top Plant keynote speech on Tuesday, March 31, and will be on the panel discussion following the Top Plant award presentation. In his role as Director of Business Development, Jamie McDonald is leading the effort to integrate the acquisition of former Ram Industries into one Schneider Electric brand.


10 a.m. - Enterprise Asset Management:

Mike Poland, Life Cycle Engineering

Mike Poland is the Managing Principal of Life Cycle Engineering's Asset Management Services. A Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional, Mike has over 25 years of engineering and maintenance experience. Mike specializes in reliability processes and systems engineering with an emphasis on defect detection and elimination through root cause analysis and risk based inspections. His approach to risk based asset management and the elimination of limiting factors for clients provides greatly enhanced asset utilization at a much lower total cost of ownership. Prior to working with LCE, Mike worked for the Department of Defense as a Life Cycle Engineer and Defense Acquisition Professional for nuclear powered aircraft carriers. He also served as the Engineering and Maintenance Manager for the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt where he managed a $200 million budget. Through his tenure as a U.S. Navy veteran in the Nuclear Power Program, Mike received his Nuclear Engineering degree.
