System Integrator of the Year Competition — Deadline Extended

By Control Engineering Staff August 14, 2007

Control Engineering’s second annual System Integrator of the Year competition is underway, and the deadline has been extended to entries postmarked August 17. Electronic entries are not being accepted this year. See the entry form for full contest rules and information.

The contest, co-sponsored by the Control System Integrators Association (CSIA), honors the best system integration companies in three size categories. Consulting Editor Dr. Vance Van Doren is again administering the project, which garnered 47 entries from system integrators around the world last year. “For the purposes of this competition, a‘system integrator’ is a contract engineering firm or an engineering division of a larger company that can design and implement computerized control systems for industrial machinery, discrete manufacturing lines, mills or process plants. Examples would include automation, control, and robotic system integrators, as well as automated machine builders, multi-disciplinary engineering firms with instrumentation and automation divisions, and product vendors that also offer application engineering services,” said Van Doren.

As was the case last year, award entries are based on essays and examples of competence in three general areas: business skills, technical competence, and customer satisfaction. Entries are divided into three categories based on the integrator company’s annual revenue — up to $10 million, $10 million to $50 million, and above $50 million. Entrants are encouraged to provide copies of customer testimonial letters, as well as documentation regarding internal business processes, quality assurance initiatives, and other awards won. All material will be kept confidential.

The 2008 panel of judges will make their selections this fall, and results will be published in the 2008 System Integration Guide, which mails with the December issue of Control Engineering . Winners will be notified prior to publication. For more information, contact Vance Van Doren at vance@control.com.
