A variety of sensing and measurement products from recently formed GE Infrastructure Sensing are making their way into marketplace. Among the newest offerings are a non-contact infrared (IR) temperature measurement device; a series of handheld test tools; a series of pressure sensors; and a non-invasive, handheld moisture meter. GE Infrastructure Sensing is part of a high-technology platform within GE , comprised of businesses designated as “fast growth.” It includes operations involved in the design and manufacture of sensing elements, devices, instruments, and systems for monitoring, protecting, controlling, and validating the safety of critical processes and applications. Under the umbrella organization are GE Druck, NovaSensor, Panametrics, and Ruska, among others.

GearTrak wireless equipment health monitoring system for electrical, industrial, and process applications is based on non-contact temperature measurement through IR technology coupled with a flexible wireless communication platform. Easy-to-use product is supported by software that offers automatic data collection and historical trend analysis directly to a technician’s computer. System can be integrated with existing monitoring systems or operate independently for stand-alone or remote applications. GearTrak consists of three components: an IR sensor to collect data and send a signal over 300 MHz ISM (industrial-scientific-medical) radio frequency band to a repeater; a repeater to relay the sensor signal to a base station using 900 MHz ISM frequency; and SW 2.2 software for viewing and trending measurements.

Single/dual function handheld instruments are designed for field performing work including calibration and repair service on such thermocouple devices as temperature transmitters. GE Druck Series 1500 series of low-cost industrial pressure sensors are suited for demanding, high-volume industrial measurement applications. Designed for OEMs and large-scale users with ranges up to 2,000 psi, the devices yield accurate, reliable pressure measurements using piezoresistive silicon technology and advanced ASIC compensation. Process media can be any fluid/gas under 275 Protimeter Aquant moisture meter uses non-invasive radio frequency to detect moisture in building materials by placing the meter on the surface. It can be used to measure moisture levels directly in materials and below wall and floor coverings, such as tile, wood, and vinyl. Results are displayed on a numeric digital display and a color-changing LED scale. Device can be reset to zero on material and in the air for fine-tuning the moisture detection process.
