Testing: Test PLCs, protection relays, meters before commissioning

RTT Desktop Test Set, a compact, portable tool

By Control Engineering Staff November 15, 2007

GE Multilin in Markham, Ontario, Canada unveiled its new RTT Desktop Test Set, a compact, portable tool that allows engineers, technicians, consultants, and integrators to test and validate the protection, control logic and configuration of PLCs, protection relays, and meters before commissioning units in the field.

Designed for bench testing devices typically found in substations and industrial facilities, the RTT Desktop Test Set performs single-phase secondary injection of AC current and voltage, provides control of digital inputs (both wet and dry), applies resistance to RTD inputs, and monitors the status of contact outputs.

The RTT is also useful as a training, development and education tool. It allows trainees to understand how devices operate under real injection conditions, and provides this control in a package that is cost effective enough for every student to have one at their disposal.

GE Multilin designs, manufactures, markets and supports a complete line of protection, metering, control, power sensing and industrial communications equipment for utility and industrial applications.
