A new range of touch drivers for Linux and Mac OS X systems is now available from Elo TouchSystems , a div. of Tyco Electronics Corp. The offerings complement the company’s line for Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, and legacy operating systems, including DOS and OS/2.

Driver comes with serial or USB touch interface (where supported) for a complete range of OS. These include:

Full Windows support, including XP, XP embedded (XPe), 2000, and CE;

Legacy Windows support, including NT, 98, 95, 3.x, and ME;

Three levels of Linux support;

Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.x; and

Legacy OS (OS/2, DOS, Unix, QNX, Sun, and other Unix drivers).

Linux drivers are offered in three tiers:

Open/public: This public driver, developed and maintained by the Linux community, is suitable for those who build their own systems. Users are free to modify the driver and are responsible for the support and development of the software.

Custom/kernel: Designed, supported, and modified by Elo TouchSystems, this driver is for those who need an “out-of-the-box” solution.

Unified: A blend of open/public and custom/kernel, this driver is suitable for those who want to modify the code but have limited resources.
