Round Rock, Tex. TouchSystems Corp. , in partnership with eTurboTouch Technology, announced plans to re-enter the capacitive touchscreen market. Previously, TouchSystems’ founders manufactured capacitive products, but sold the business in 1995 to focus on other interests. The official re-entry to market will begin with the debut of XGT, a patented, all glass, capacitive touchscreen, at Comdex Fall Nov. 12, 2001.

Analog capacitive touchscreen technology, known for its durability and exceptional optics, is most commonly used in public kiosks applications. Growth in the kiosk market has increased demand for capacitive touchscreens. Compound that with the limited number of capacitive manufacturers, and the result is escalated pricing, extended delivery times, and reduced levels of customer service.

‘Customers are really driving this decision,’ stated Kevin Wade, vp of new product development. ‘They are becoming increasingly frustrated with low product availability and rising prices, which has resulted in repeated requests to include capacitive in our product offering.’

TouchSystems has already re-entered the analog resistive market segment and expects to make major headway in the capacitive segment with the coming introduction of XGT. TouchSystems has formed strategic partnerships, including a pivotal relationship with touchscreen manufacturer, eTurboTouch Technology.

Backed by the Turbo Group, nearly a billion dollar enterprise, eTurboTouch has extensive research and development resources, with a production capacity of over three-million pieces per month at its’ manufacturing facility located in Chung-Li, Taiwan.
