Minneapolis, MN – Honeywell has released an aerospace-rated switch with rapid customization options, as well as a small, tough switch for hydraulic brake systems in harsh environments.

Micro Switch 1HP Series configurable pressure switch can be rapidly customized to the requirements of aerospace and military applications.

The Micro Switch 1HP Series configurable pressure switch can be customized rapidly to the requirements of aerospace and military applications. Offering a broad pressure range (150 psi to 5,000 psi) and a wide selection of fittings, electrical connectors, pressure setpoints, and differentials, the 1HP Series enhances accuracy, containing a Micro Switch subminiature switch in a design that delivers higher setpoint precision and improves performance over temperature. The lightweight, compact switch is used to monitor and react to gas or liquid pressure in aerospace or military systems . Potential aerospace applications include indication of loss of pressure, validation of system pressure, and automatic shut off of electrical equipment. Potential military applications include monitoring hydraulic pressure and fire suppression on ground vehicles. The switches are DO-160 and US military specification-approved.According to Brad Kautzer, vice president and general manager of Honeywell Sensing and Control’s electromechanical line of business, “Unlike competitors, modifications to the precision element can be addressed in real time, in-house.”

Honeywell

Honeywell unveiled the Series 1000 pressure switch for potential hydraulic brake pressure applications . It is suitable for brake systems used in harsh environments due to its IP65 sealing and high burst rating. With a high resistance to shock and vibration, the switch withstands pressure spikes in critical systems.Honeywell has reduced part count on this product by approximately 75% to optimize cost and complexity. The new design may lower installation time by minimizing time required for adjustments and potentially the need for field maintenance. The result is reduced field failures, even in demanding environments. Custom versions have been in operation for more than two years in 20,000 ATVs with no known field failures reported. The compact switch may be used to actuate brake lights in brake systems for small vehicles in many harsh environments, including ATVs, snow, and sport vehicles, and smaller motorcycles and scooters. It also can be used in applications where high operating pressure and low setpoint are required.– Control Engineering News Desk Register here and scroll down to select your choice of eNewsletters free.
