Leutron Vision targets its PicPort-Express-CL Series frame grabber boards for web material inspection, industrial inspection, generic machine vision, medical imaging applications.

Recent developments in machine vision include Leutron Vision 's Camera Link frame grabber family based on PCI-express; Moxa VPort 3310 Video Server; and SmallFrEye PC compact multifunctional vision system by The Value Engineering Alliance .

Leutron Vision's PicPort-Express-CL Series frame grabber uses an FPGA (field programmable gate array) for image acquisition flexibility, high performance, field upgradeability, and customization. It supports high-performance cameras with the highest-speed Camera Link receivers (85 MHz). The boards simplify connectivity with Power-over-Camera Link. Available configurations include PCIe x1 or x4 form factors, single or dual Camera Link connectors (Mono/Stereo) and optional pre-processing capabilities, and RTF (real-time function).

Moxa Networking's Industrial Video Server VPort 3310 is an industrial-grade, 1-channel Video Server that adopts the high performance MPEG4 compression algorithm, and features DIN-rail-mounting capability, 24 V dc redundant power inputs, and IP30 protection to meet industrial requirements. Also available is the extended temperature model, VPort 3310-T, which has an operating temperature of -40 to 75 °C. VPort 3310 can process up to 30 frames/s at 352 x 240 pixel resolution (max. bandwidth of 1.6 Mbps) to provide high video performance data transmission.

The Value Engineering Alliance developed SmallFrEye PC to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of operations during manufacture of electronic devices and components. Architecture supports multi-tasking; modular software design enables functional blocks to be combined to fit many inspection and automatic identification tasks. Primary modules include part detection, pin-1 detection, package location, mark inspection/optical character verification, 2-D ball grid array inspection, chip scale packaging pad inspection, various types of device lead inspection, pattern recognition, package surface inspection, ECC080 and ECC200 data matrix decoding, 1-D bar-code decoding, optical character recognition (OCR) and a collection of general-purpose measurement tools.
