gets its backlighting from the

Osram Opto Semiconductors Inc

. Ostar-Projection LED modules. The Ostendo CRVD curved display measures 42.4-in. diagonal and provides a 2,880 x 900 pixel resolution (double WXGA+). The immersive desktop display CRVD wraps around the viewer, serving up billions of colors, >300 nits brightness, and a contrast ratio of >10,000:1. Companies say it is useful for any applications, such as simulation or any other computing application that benefits from significant amounts of seamless area.


Ostendo CRVD curved display, 42.4-in. diagonal, provides a 2,880 x 900 pixel resolution (double WXGA+), and uses Osram LED light sources.

Osram’s Ostar-Projection high-performance LED light sources backlight the DLP-based CRVD curved screen. Modules consist of six RGB LED chips that generate brilliance and vibrant colors with pure surface emission and extreme brightness, due to Osram’s Thinfilm and ThinGaN chip architecture.
“It’s an incredible display,” said Tom Shottes, Osram president and CEO. “This is the first display that provides such a wide field of view with such dynamic range and wide color gamut. We’ve worked with Ostendo since they began developing the technology. The high luminance and design flexibility of our Ostar-Projection technology was a perfect fit.”
Dr. El-Ghoroury, Ostendo CEO, added, “Our strong collaboration with Osram and the excellent performance of the Ostar LEDs was key in bringing the CRVD design to fruition. We chose the Ostar LED light source because of its quality, robustness, reliability and efficiency.”
According to Erhan Ercan, Ostendo’s director of product marketing, “We started working with Osram to employ the Ostar LEDs in our product in early 2005, even prior to the official starting of the company. We designed in the Osram Ostar LEDs as the light source of choice for the CRVD by late 2005.”
