This week Morrissey Goodale tracked seven domestic deals made effective at year-end, bringing the total 2012 deal count in the United States to 186, up 6% over 2011. Including the U.S., the total global deal count for 2012 is now 319, down 4% from the 332 global deals tracked in 2011.

Multi-discipline engineering and surveying firm McKim & Creed (Raleigh, NC) purchased the assets of United Engineering Group (UEG) (Raleigh, NC), a 40-person mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering firm providing services to the energy, healthcare, higher education, state government, industrial and transportation markets and featuring a leading position in the design of solar photovoltaic systems and containerized energy storage systems for solar and wind energy production. Link to details

In a move to expand its subsidiary Parson Brinckerhoff's Energy Storage Services business in the US, international infrastructure group Balfour Beatty (London, UK) acquired 37-person professional consulting and engineering firm Subsurface Group (Houston, TX). From offices in Texas, Louisiana and Indiana, Subsurface Group provides services in underground injection, underground storage, specialty wells, petroleum and natural resources, and environmental science and is forecasting $50 million in revenue for the year 2012. Link to details
