ISA88 is undergoing Part 1 revision, and there's major discussion underway about batch- and recipe-related philosophies. The Control Engineering blog called,

Standard profits: Make2Pack and ISA88

, will dive into some finer points of batch control and recipes, challenging industry leaders to explain why they think the way they do, over the course of the next seven days (perhaps more, since the debate continues).
David Chappell, P&G retired, and chair of the Make2Pack ISA-88 Part 5 standards development effort, kicked off the discussion, yesterday, asking, "How would you treat Batch Cells, Trains, and Units in the following scenario" to ensure the current Part 1 work addresses these topics in the appropriate context?
So far the following batch industry leaders have weighed in on the discussions, to be covered in the blog over the coming days: Dennis Brandl, Lynn W. Craig, and Paul Nowicki, with some additional comments from Randy Dwiggins.
