WinSystems: Economical PC/104 enclosure

Dubbed ENC-104, the new simple enclosure from WinSystems is designed for embedded applications that need to protect PC/104 (and PC/104-Plus) module stacks mounted inside NEMA boxes, OEM machinery, wiring closets, equipment rooms, or other areas.

ENC-104 consists of a chassis base, chassis cover, two end plates, and a square PC/104 module stack plate. Made from durable 0.0625-in.5052 aluminum sheet, it weighs less than two pounds.

Dubbed ENC-104, the new simple enclosure from WinSystems is designed for embedded applications that need to protect PC/104 (and PC/104- Plus ) module stacks mounted inside NEMA boxes, OEM machinery, wiring closets, equipment rooms, or other areas. PC/104- Plus refers to the PCI implementation of this bus for I/O functions that need higher data transfer rates.

The compact enclosure—measuring 7.725 x 8.325 x 4.0 in.—accepts a stack of up to four PC/104 modules (even with latching I/O connectors) or PC/104- Plus modules. There is room to spare for cable routing plus service loops to connectors mounted on the end panels.

ENC-104's flanged chassis base is designed with four slotted keyways to mount on a wall, on a table, under a counter, or inside larger OEM equipment. The slotted chassis cover promotes convection cooling. It can be easily removed for access during development or for maintenance. Complementing the design are four types of end plates and an optional 40-Watt power supply that mounts to the end of the unit. Users can easily customize the enclosure end plates to match specific I/O card connectors and cabling requirements, says WinSystems.
