ISA100 Wireless standard has various parts in development, focusing on varied industrial needs. Honeywell is developing products for the ISA100.11a standard, company says.

With end-users active on the committee, Honeywell says that ISA100:

- Provides a comprehensive plant-wide approach to meeting their requirements for best lifecycle management and reliability.
- Provides optimal battery usage to save lifecycle costs, with backbone routing and optional routing function for devices.
- Accommodates different protocols with technology such as protocol mapping, smart tunneling, and tunneling, so any device can connect to any host efficiently and effectively. That connectivity protects end-users' current investments in application hosts and devices.
- Is committed to security and reliability.

Buy wireless now, comply with standard later

In June 2008, Honeywell announced that its network and transmitters included hardware that can be easily upgraded to the ISA100.11a standard with a simple over-the-air download. New products, as released, are ISA100.11a hardware compliant .
