Computational Systems Inc . (CSI, Knoxville, TN), Emerson Process Management's mechanical equipment monitoring group, introduced the 4100 MicroAnalyzer , a self-contained, wireless, troubleshooting package. CSI reports that 4100 can be deployed in minutes to gather, analyze, and transmit vibration, stress wave, and temperature data.

4100 is also an automated machinery analysis system, based on the proven technology of the Model 2120, that uses RF communication to provide wireless condition monitoring. With the new, optional RF Watch module for RBMware VibView 4.50, the system can be attached to a plant network or a modem for remote monitoring.

This hybrid of online and portable technology enables implementation of automated monitoring and analysis without the usual cost and inconvenience of installing an online system. 4100 measures three key machine parameters: temperature, conventional vibration, and PeakVue stress wave analysis for enhanced bearing and gear diagnostics. 4100 addresses a wide range of monitoring needs, but is particularly well-suited for applications where machines are located in inaccessible areas such as cooling towers, settling ponds, and clean rooms. It carries a safety rating for use in hazardous areas as well. A special triggered acquisition mode opens up new opportunities to monitor the condition of mobile equipment, including cranes, robots, shovels, and off-road equipment.

Thanks to robust spread-spectrum RF technology, there is no need for line of sight between 4100 and the transceiver. In a typical industrial environment, there can be a 300-foot separation between the two. The transceiver automatically passes the signal through a local area network or modem connection to acquire automated readings on a predefined schedule using the RF Watch software module.
