Lake Forest, CA— To support Microsoft’s cluster services and store and forward capabilities, Wonderware recently released its IndustrialSQL Server 8.0 Enterprise Edition historian. With approximately 14,000 installations worldwide, IndustrialSQL Server real-time plant historian is reportedly the world’s leading plant data historian. Wonderware is an operating unit of Invensys Systems Inc.

‘Wonderware is fully committed to providing the most complete range of high-availability functionality in the plant data historian market,’ says Jim Frider, product marketing manager for Wonderware’s plant intelligence products. ‘Real-time plant information can power faster and smarter plant decisions, helping customers more effectively deliver on critical corporate initiatives, such as improved asset utilization, plant productivity and world-class product quality.’

IndustrialSQL Server 8.0 supports Microsoft’s clustering services, which extend the application’s high-availability capabilities. A cluster is a group of computers that work together to run a common set of applications and provide the image of one system to the client and application. ‘IndustrialSQL Server can now support customers who rely on failover clusters to ensure that their plant data is available whenever they need it,’ adds Frider.

IndustrialSQL Server’s other features include Server Store & Forward and remotely deployable data acquisition services, which help eliminate interruptions in data flow. These capabilities allow users to store data to a secondary server if the primary server goes offline, and forward the stored data to the primary server without interruptions when the server is restored to operation.

As part of Wonderware’s partnership with Stratus Technologies , IndustrialSQL Server historian has also been qualified for Stratus’ ftServer 3300 Series fault-tolerant server. These servers, combined with the IndustrialSQL Server historian, are ideal for environments where high-availability is critical.

In addition, IndustrialSQL Server is part of Wonderware’s FactorySuite A2 product line, which benefits from Invensys’ ArchestrA technology. The ArchestrA industrial software architecture reduces a plant’s total cost of ownership through easy installation, operation, modification, maintenance and replication of automation applications.
