Ziatech Corp. stated July 21 it will unveil a Linux-based CompactPCI development system at LinuxWorld Conference and Expo, Aug. 19-21, in San Jose, Calif. The development platform will include an 8U-high, 19-in. rack-mounted system using an Intel Pentium II processor, a core set of development peripherals, power supply and system cooling, and Hard Hat Linux operating system from MontaVista Software Inc. (Sunnyvale. Calif.). Designed to accelerate implementation of CompactPCI-based telecom and Internet infrastructure systems, the development platform joins Ziatech's family of development systems based on Microsoft Windows NT, QNX, and VxWorks. To help bring Linux solutions to the CompactPCI market, Ziatech announced in June that it would offer Hard Hat Linux on its CPU boards and development systems. The company also launched in July an open source initiative for its CompactNET multiprocessing technology. Ziatech offers its Linux source code drivers for CompactNET for free. Source code can be downloaded from Ziatech's web site at www.compactnet.com .
