13 processing lines ordered for vegetable oils plant

Lund, Sweden —Thirteen state-of-the-art processing lines are on their way to a refining and modification plant for vegetable and tropical oils in Ukraine. Sweden-based Alfa Laval , a manufacturer of heat transfer, centrifugal separation, and fluid handling systems, received the order for the equipment from the Ilyichevsk Oils & Fats Industrial Complex. Value of the lines is estimated at 110 million SEK (Swedish Krona), a little over $14 million U.S.

The processing lines will be used for refining and modifying seeks oils and tropical oils. Delivery is scheduled during 2006 and 2007. The plant is the largest of its kind in the Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Processing oils and fats make it possible to generate a large range of ready-for-use products in different food industries, and ensure quality can be retained during and transportation.

Alfa Laval’s fats modification package includes components and systems for such oils and fats processes as fractionation, hydrogenation, and interesterification (a chemical process that turns oils into fats). Company services include specialist teams for design and engineering projects.
