Micro Motion 2-wire Coriolis flow and density meter

Emerson Process Management, Micro Motion Division

Emerson’s Micro Motion 2-wire Coriolis meter with MVD Technology extends highly accurate mass flow and density measurement to loop-powered applications eliminating the need for additional power wiring.

Bringing forth the same quality, robust features of Micro Motion Coriolis, the new two-wire meter delivers measurement accuracy, repeatability and operational savings on a level not previously possible for flow loops with older flow measurement technologies. The new meter delivers +0.10% liquid flow and +0.0005 g/cm3 liquid density accuracy in continuous process and mass balance applications. It has no moving parts and requires no maintenance. The two-wire Micro Motion 2200S transmitter can be used with a range of Micro Motion Elite Coriolis sensor sizes and materials of construction to deliver excellent measurement performance for continuous process applications. Suitable for integral or extended mount, the innovative loop powered design makes for seamless integration into existing control systems and is ideal for long wiring runs and applications in hazardous areas.

Equipped with MVD digital processing technology, the Micro Motion 2200S transmitter delivers multivariable and diagnostic information via HART communications for reduced costs through improved process consistency and maximized uptime. Front-end digital processing dramatically reduces signal noise and delivers a faster response time compared to analog devices. Micro Motion two-wire Coriolis is ideally suited for use in the chemical, petrochemical and refining industries, and for continuous process and mass balance applications.

ST51 Flow Meter for BioGas, Digester Gas, Methane & Natural Gas

Fluid Components International

The ST51 Mass Flow Meter provides highly accurate and reliable gas flow measurement in green energy applications in the emerging methane-to-markets processes that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and use biogas in the co-generation of electric power

The ST51 Mass Flow Meter is designed to solve the unique challenges to gas flow measurement in bioprocess generated methane, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and uses the biogas in the co-generation of green, renewable electric power. The ST51 features a no-moving parts design that’s non-clogging and operates over a wide flow range with low-flow sensitivity. It’s packaged in an explosion-proof transmitter, and the calibration is matched to the user’s actual gas composition and installation conditions. In anaerobic digester produced biogas, gas flow measurement is challenged by the wet, dirty, toxic and potentially explosive nature of biogas. The wetness, H2S and other particulates in the gas create a corrosive condensate that deposits itself on the pipe wall and instruments in the pipe. The ST51 features a thermal mass, insertion-style flow element with flow accuracy to(-18 to 121°C) and withstands pressures up to 500 psig [34 bar (g)].

SM Magnetic Inductive Flow Meter

ifm efector inc.

The ifm SM Series magnetic inductive flow meter mounts in-line to detect the flow rate of conductive media up to six gallons per minute.

ifm’s SM Series magnetic inductive flow meter is designed to reliably detect the flow rate of conductive media up to six gallons per minute. The stainless steel, mechanically-robust design is mounted in-line providing a compact, low-profile installation for process control. The meter‘s display includes a 4-digit numeric display with eight integrated LEDs that together indicate the flow rate (gal/min or l/min), total volume (gallons or liters), and temperature (°F or °C) of all conductive media. Simple pushbutton programming quickly establishes application parameters and the flow meter can be setup to provide a switching output, analog output and pulsed output. The technology is based on magnetic inductive flow metering. The conductive medium flowing through a pipe in a magnetic field generates a voltage that is proportional to the flow velocity or volumetricflow quantity. The voltage is measured via electrodes and converted in the evaluation electronics. Typical applications include: flow and temperature monitoring through heat exchangers, monitoring cooling water on welding machines, batching applications, totalize flow of process water, and pump rundry protection. With more features than current technologies, at a price 50% less, the SM flow meter is a new benchmark for price / performance.

Optimass 2000

Krohne Inc.

The Optimass 2000 is a large diameter Coriolis mass flowmeter that Krohne says is ideal for accurate and repeatable bulk measurement in the oil industry.

The Optimass 2000 utilizes the effective twin straight tube design of Krohne’s Optimass 1000, and the product range has been extended with the Optimass 2000 to provide accurate measurement for the bulk fluids market. Available in three sizes, 4-, 6- and 10-inch, Optimass 2000 wetted parts are constructed of NACE compliant duplex stainless steel (ANS 31803) and the meter is available with flange ratings up to 1,500 lb, and flange sizes from 4-12 inches. One major benefit for the oil and gas industry is the low flow rate feature of the Optimass 2000. A lower rate of flow prevents the build-up of static in hydrocarbons without affecting measurement accuracy. The low flow rate capability is also a benefit for custody transfer applications. The Optimass 2000 is CRN approved and can handle process pressures to 2,200 PSIG (150 bar) with a stainless steel outer cylinder that can handle burst pressures in excess of 1,500 PSI (100 bar). Flow rates ranging from 250 lb/min (7,000 Kg/h) to 4,400 lb/min (1,2000,000 Kg/h) are easily handled by the Optimass 2000 with a measuring accuracy of 0.1%

Process Sensors

Slurrytrac

CiDra

Slurrytrac systems from CiDra are operational and analytical tools used to measure and detect sand bed formation.

Slurrytrac, a sonar-based technology that installs around a process pipe, enables step-change benefits in mining, minerals and oil sands industries. Slurrytrac is both an operational and analytical tool used to measure and detect sand bed formation and to provide new insight into slurry flow rheology. Using the velocity profile distribution of the slurry flow within the process pipe, Slurrytrac systems can detect the onset of a stationary sand bed, which can lead to plugging a slurry line causing millions of dollars in lost production and clean up, company says. The system avoids costly unplanned interventions and shutdowns due to sanding and therefore increases plant uptime and throughput.

Slurrytrac passive sonar and signal processing techniques are also being utilized by operators in plants to map out and characterize the velocity profile and other characteristics of hydrotransport slurries. The characterization, visualization and measurement information can help enable increased efficiency and recovery of the mineral content in slurries. The information as provided by the Slurrytrac system can be delivered to the DCS and/or the desktop, as well as CiDra’s information center, which can provide additional characterization, interpretation and modeling services.
