Adept launches motion and vision controller
San Jose, Calif.- Adept Technology Inc. introduced June 25 its new SmartController CX, which is the second in its family of distributed motion and vision controllers. SmartController CX includes full support for the company’s AdeptVision sAVI and a faster processor that supports demanding motion and vision applications.
SmartController CX also includes additional serial communication ports for added flexibility, as well as standard fast Ethernet, DeviceNet and Adept’s FireWire-based SmartServo network interfaces. SmartController’s distributed network control architecture uses Adept’s SmartAmp technology, which allows it to be scalable, and reduces form factor and cabling up to 70%.
“With the introduction of the CX, we have completed the first phase of the SmartController product line. We can now offer the smaller footprint, reduced wiring and installation costs, and the scalable servo architecture that our customers are demanding for their most complex applications,” says Joe Campbell, Adept’s marketing vp. “SmartController CX delivers the industry proven scalability of our FireWire-based distributed control architecture with full support for the most advanced vision and motion applications.”
SmartController CX with the AdeptVision sAVI option allows users to program complex applications in which part orientation and recognition are required, which shortens cycle times and allows performance not otherwise possible. SmartController’s faster processor also aids more complex applications that require more CPU power, while the additional communication ports enable more devices to be controlled and interfaced by one controller.
