Anacon Systems announced Feb. 21 that it has entered into a three-year supply agreement with ITT Industries to provide Anacon’s proprietary DigiDrive ac motor controller system to ITT for use in its pump product line. The agreement is expected to generate more than $20 million in new motor controller revenue for Anacon. DigiDrive motor controls will help ITT provide its customers with more application-specific functions. The agreement with Anacon will reportedly also complement ITT’s alliances with other suppliers of pump systems and controls. ITT provides solutions for a wide range of pump applications. DigiDrive will be used in ITT’s low-horsepower applications that require a high degree of functionality and quiet, efficient operation. DigiDrive’s networking capabilities will also provide an alternative to point-of-use management of pumps and pumping systems. Anacon sees the total worldwide market for single-phase, ac controllers growing from $3.95 billion in 1999 to $4.68 billion by 2003. This represents an available unit volume of 200 million in 1999 growing to 225 million units by the year 2003. The firm also expects accelerated penetration of variable-speed control into pumping system applications.
