Asset manager software analyzes symptoms, faults

Phoenix, AZ— Honeywell Process Solutions has introduced its Asset Manager, Release 310, which is the first release developed in conjunction with participants in Honeywell’s Process Knowledge System (PKS) Advantage Program. The company says its Asset Manager connects the right people across the supply chain to improve operational effectiveness and reduce mainte-nance costs.

PKS Advantage is a Honeywell-sponsored, collaborative technology program that engages other automation suppliers. The program enables Honeywell to deliver open, integrated process knowledge solutions using the field equipment, software and associated services users judge most appropriate for their operations. Program participants include Dresser-Masoneilan, Endress+Hauser, Flowserve, Honeywell IM&C, Krohne, and Yokogawa.

Asset Manager is an integrated asset management component of Experion PKS. Asset Manager identifies and analyzes symptoms and faults from thousands of data points collected from plant systems, historians, field sensor networks and other plant databases. It continuously and efficiently monitors, troubleshoots, and maintains Experion PKS control loops and field device assets, as well as traditional process-based assets.

Building on previous Asset Manager versions, R310’s benefits include:

• Reduction in scheduled and unscheduled downtime;

• Energy and cost savings, thanks to greater equipment and process efficiencies;

• Increased productivity;

• Early detection of changes in asset performance;

• Improved communication among specialists; and

• Reduction of future process and equipment failures, thanks to root cause failure analysis capabilities

In addition, R310’s new features include:

Automatic detection of PKS Advantage Program’s HART and FOUNDATION fieldbus devices. Asset Manager automatically creates a database with relevant device, fault logic and remedial information, providing faster, more accurate device configuration in Asset Manager. In addition, program participants have identified common device symptoms and faults. This combination delivers focused troubleshooting and performance assessment capabilities to minimize process downtime. Asset Manager also supports advanced symptom detection and signature analysis for select control valves.

Tight integration with Experion PKS. Asset Manager reports device faults through Experion PKS, providing a common interface for asset management and process control. This integration also provides an infrastructure to manage open data from multiple OPC data sources.

User interface improvements. Enhancements to the database field structure, the addition of a ‘builder’ view, and easy access to tools and functions via right-click menus make operators’ work easier.
