Kalki forms engineering delivery center
The engineering services group of Kalki Communication Technologies has formed of a dedicated off-shore engineering delivery center for power systems. This center will cater to power utilities, OEMs, and system integrators in the U.S., Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Diamond and Suntron partner on OEM program

Diamond Systems, a designer and manufacturer of integrated embedded single board computers, I/O boards, and power supplies, has signed an agreement with system integrator Suntron Systems to create the "OEM Ready Solutions" program. The program allows OEM customers to offload non-core activities, such as product development and program management, to Diamond Systems, freeing development teams to focus on core competencies such as software and market development.

Implementation Chronicles Weekly Update

Though both projects are in somewhat of a holding pattern relative to initial expectations, relevant work continues. At the wastewater facility SCADA project, end-to-end testing of the trial system is now complete, but no word has been received regarding the notice to proceed with Phase II. Meanwhile, on the biopharmaceutical filtration automation project, while the HMI hardware has still not arrived, the integrators are designing and developing automatic sequences for the equipment modules.

HART expects big benefits with enhanced EDDL specification

Implementation of recently completed enhancements to the Electronic Device Description Language (EDDL, IEC 61804-2) by system and device suppliers is expected to revolutionize the process automation industry, representatives of HART Communication Foundation (HCF) said on Aug. 18. Enhancements make standardized device configuration a reality allowing users to easily visualize and configure millions of installed HART-enabled intelligent devices in similar ways.

Omni-directional wireless antennas support multiple protocols

Pulse, a Technitrol Co., introduced six models of W1000-series antennas for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of wireless devices intended for IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, ZigBee, and Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) frequency bands. The antennas are omni-directional, providing 360-degree coverage to improve point-to-multipoint transmission and reception between devices on wireless local area networks (WLANs).

RF modems get Class 1, Div. 2 safety compliance

Automation Systems Interconnect (ASI) Inc. says its new IP65 Single Phase Switching Power Supply has a sealed aluminum enclosure to withstand many environmental conditions that would halt most power supplies, including spraying or splashing water.
