Beckhoff releases distributed I/O for control processes

To expand its bus terminal I/O system measurement capabilities, Beckhoff has introduced its new KL3356 analog input bus terminal with a measurement accuracy of 0.01%. This bus terminal provides direct connection for resistor bridges, strain gauge sensors, and common analog input signals. This new analog input terminal was developed for measurement applications in high-precision control processes.

Beckhoff adds that KL3356 achieves precision and long-term measurement stability through self-calibration. The complete circuit calibrates itself at least once every three minutes. This procedure can be synchronized by the controller to prevent calibration from delaying the production process. Also, accuracy of the measured values is monitored permanently. A warning signal is issued if a violation of the accuracy class occurs, so that “safe” measured data are ensured.
