Change in Leadership At Invensys Software Systems

Herndon, Va. (Business Wire) – Invensys plc , the global automation and controls group, announced October 8 that Bruce Henderson, division chief executive of the Invensys Software Systems Division, has left the company by mutual agreement. The search for a replacement has begun and until one is named, Richard Haythornthwaite, Invensys plc chief executive officer, will be the acting head of the Software division.

‘We wish Bruce well, and extend our thanks to him for his significant contributions to Invensys over the past six years,’ Mr. Haythornthwaite said. ‘He has done an excellent job in creating a vision and an organization model that positions Software Systems to become a cornerstone in the future strategy of Invensys. Bruce has created a strong leadership team within the operations and it is now vital to provide the resources and support to allow them to turn that vision into reality and demonstrate their potential in customer markets. I am personally committed to seeing Software Systems succeed and I intend to play an active role in that effort.’

Henderson began his Invensys career at Robertshaw Controls, which eventually became part of Invensys, when that company was formed in 1999 through the merger of BTR plc and Siebe plc. In early 1999 he was appointed chief executive of Invensys Controls, an operating unit which focused on home and commercial automation.

In September 1999 he was named head of the Invensys Intelligent Automation Division, which later became the Software Systems Division. During Henderson’s leadership, Invensys bought the Baan company, an ERP/collaborative, e-commerce software firm, which has enjoyed a dramatic turnaround in its business.

He has also played an active role structuring Invensys’ software business so that it is uniquely able to provide industrial automation and control software that improves the efficiency of manufacturing systems and provides real-time information by linking shop-floor systems, supply chain components and enterprise systems.

Henderson said his plans are to write, consult and continue to serve on the board of the Lean Enterprise Institute.
