Contemporary Controls continues development with new Weidmüller subsidiary

Downers Grove, IL; Eisleben, Germany— Contemporary Control Systems Inc. (CCSI) reports that the Weidmüller Group has acquired a majority interest in Heyfra Electronic GmbH (HEG), a longtime CCSI business partner. HEG and CCSI design and manufacture industrial networking equipment for use in robotics, building automation, automotive, HVAC, fire and safety, and other applications.

CCSI adds that it met HEG during the 1998 Trans-Atlantic Small Business Initiative matchmaking conference in Chicago, and that their relationship has grown over the years. They initially worked as technology partners developing CAN and industrial Ethernet products, and then later as joint venture partners when Contemporary Controls GmbH (CCG) was established.

The partners report that their joint technology development will continue under Weidmüller’s ownership of HEG. They add that their goal remains the same: to maximize development of new products, while reducing the time to market. Advanced technologies will continue to be shared between the two companies.

In addition, as part of the agreement, CCSI has acquired Heyfra’s shares in CCG, which will become a wholly owned CCSI subsidiary. CCG will continue to operate in Eisleben.

With our acquisition of Heyfra, Weidmüller has significantly strengthened its position in the growing industrial Ethernet market. This new know-how will benefit above all our customers above all.”

George Thomas, CCSI’s president, adds that, “Weidmüller has an excellent reputation in the industrial marketplace, and can provide additional resources to Heyfra, benefiting our joint development efforts. There is no limit to the technology opportunities with industrial Ethernet.”

To better serve its international customers, CCSI has two other subsidiaries. In 1997, it formed Contemporary Controls Ltd, (CCL) at the University of Warwick Science Park, located in Coventry, U.K., to service the European Economic Area (EEA). In 2002, it established Contemporary Controls (Suzhou) Co., Ltd (CCC) in Suzhou, China.
