Contemporary Control Systems Inc. (CCSI) reports that the Weidmüller Group has acquired a majority interest in Heyfra Electronic GmbH (HEG), a longtime CCSI business partner. HEG and CCSI design and manufacture industrial networking equipment for use in robotics, building automation, automotive, HVAC, fire and safety, and other applications.

CCSI met HEG during the 1998 Trans-Atlantic Small Business Initiative matchmaking conference in Chicago. They initially worked as technology partners developing CAN and industrial Ethernet products, and then later as joint venture partners when Contemporary Controls GmbH (CCG) was established.

The partners report that their joint technology development will continue under Weidmüller’s ownership of HEG. Advanced technologies will continue to be shared between the two companies. In addition, as part of the agreement, CCSI has acquired Heyfra’s shares in CCG, which will become a wholly owned CCSI subsidiary. CCG will continue to operate in Eisleben.
