Control upgrade: Emerson increases loop tuning capabilities with DeltaV 9.3

Emerson ‘s new DeltaV 9.3 release offers its InSight integrated control performance software as part of the version upgrade. This new integrated application reportedly enables users to optimize loop tuning across an entire control system.

InSight has retained all the capabilities of its predecessors, DeltaV Tune and Inspect, however its functionality now includes more advanced diagnostics and adaptive tuning capabilities supported by embedded learning algorithms.

Emerson says InSight can automatically learn users’ processes with embedded learning algorithms running at the controller level, and then develop process models based on day-to-day operations. These models then allow users to identify operational benchmarks, diagnose problems, and calculate optimum loop tuning across the entire control system. Poorly performing loops are highlighted, allowing users to put their attention where it is most needed. InSight is embedded in DeltaV 9.3 and requires no additional installation or configuration.
