Controllers: ABB adds scalability with new ‘eCo’ PLC devices
AC500-eCo PLC family with three CPUs, four I/O devices provides cost-effective solutions for smaller projects.
In modern industrial automation applications, small PLC solutions often are ideal — particularly as part of a stand-alone environment. With the introduction of the AC500-eCo, ABB has added such a product to the AC500 family.
The AC500-eCo has been designed to enhance the flexible and scalable concepts of the AC500 PLC line. In addition to its inter-operability with the existing AC500 range, the AC500-eCo system also is configured and programmed using PS501 Control Builder AC500, which is based on CoDeSys. This programming software for the whole AC500 family complies with the EN 61131-3 standard and supports its five programming languages.
The AC500-eCo introduction includes three new CPUs and four new AC500-eCo IO devices . The new CPU versions offer integrated digital and analog inputs and outputs, along with relay outputs. CPUs can be provided in 24 V dc or 100-240 V ac power supply versions, according to requirements.
"Relay and triac output modules, together with a 100-240 V ac digital input module, have been added to the S500-eCo IO range. A highlight is the new IO module DX571, which combines digital inputs and relay outputs in one module-allowing customized and cost-saving application solutions," says Hellermann.
