Cooper buys emergency equipment manufacturer
Houston, TX—Cooper Industries Ltd. has acquired U.K.-based, privately held MEDC Ltd., which manufactures manual, visual, and audible alarms and public address speakers.
Houston, TX— Cooper Industries Ltd. has acquired U.K.-based, privately held MEDC Ltd., which manufactures manual, visual, and audible alarms and public address speakers. MEDC will become a part of Cooper’s Crouse-Hinds division. Terms of the transaction were not released.
MEDC’s products are mostly used in environments with significant risks of explosion due to mixtures of gas, vapor, dust and air. MEDC’s products also are specified for harsh industrial, marine, and commercial applications.
Founded in 1975, MEDC’s headquarters are in in Pinxton, Nottingham, England. The firm has annual revenues of approximately $22 Million.

Cooper Crouse-Hinds manufactures electrical products designed for hazardous commercial and industrial environments. The division’s products are used in commercial and industrial applications, airport and obstruction lighting, oil, petrochemical, automation, mining, marine and entertainment applications.
