Boulder, Colo. —Emerson Process Management (Austin, Tex.) announced June 20 that its Micro Motion Coriolis flowmeters are being recognized worldwide as reliable natural gas measurement devices, and that its expanding Micro Motion products support the trend of increasing use of Coriolis in natural gas applications.

Two principal European weights and measurement organizations, Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) and Nederlands Meetinstituut (NMI) recently added Micro Motion Elite CMF400 to their lists of approved Micro Motion flow measurement devices for use in custody transfer of natural gas. In February 2002, the American Gas Association (AGA) published its AGA Engineering Technical Note on Coriolis flow measurement for natural gas applications, which Emerson says further supports applying Elite CMF400 in medium to high pressure gas measurement applications. Also, Micro Motion Elite meters have been approved for natural gas measurement by Measurement Canada (MC) for one and a half years.

“All of the major approval agencies around the world have now recognized the viable use of Coriolis meters on natural gas. Our customers are excited about the expanding availability of highly accurate, cost-effective Coriolis meters in their natural gas applications,” says Keven Dunphy, Emerson’s global gas manager for Micro Motion. “As the leading provider of Coriolis, Micro Motion continues to expand its gas measurement capabilities. Working with natural gas users, we’re finding countless opportunities for Micro Motion Coriolis meters to increase the performance and reduce the cost of natural gas flow measurement points.”
