Parvus Corp . has made available a CPU Evaluation Kit for its SpacePC line of x86 PC/104 computers, which include Series 4320, 4200, 2320, and 2110 embedded PC boards. The kit reportedly allows simple, rapid testing of CPU features and capabilities, eliminating concerns about wiring or power.
Parvus’ SpacePC CPU line of PC/104 and PC/104-Plus CPUs features compact size (3.56 x 3.78 in.); wide support for x86 operating systems (such as Microsoft Windows, Wind River VxWorks, Linux, and QNX); low-power consumption (4-5 W typical); soldered RAM for ruggedness; optional extended temperature range (–40 to 85 ºC); and numerous integrated peripherals.
The evaluation kit comes with a CPU board and its peripherals interfaced to a PC/104-Plus baseboard with standard PC-style connectors for PS/2, VGA, RJ-45 Ethernet, and CompactFlash. Users need only to attach their monitor, keyboard, and mouse, then connect power and boot up.
Additional kit contents include standard ribbon cable sets and related adapters (Ethernet, CAN, USB/Audio) for each CPU board, a CompactFlash disk with operating system, Web browser, and TCP/IP stack—plus a CD-ROM disk with drivers, manuals, and documentation.
