Simsbury, Conn. – Danaher Corp. announced Mar. 1 that it has acquired the assets of IDC Corp. (Petaluma, Calif.). The transaction closed this week following an auction completed Feb. 5 as part of the bankruptcy proceeding for Automation Solutions LLC, which was IDC former parent company.

IDC will become part of Danaher Motion, a division of Danaher Corp. (Washington. D.C.). Offering motion control components and solutions worldwide, Danaher Motion includes Kollmorgen, Pacific Scientific, Superior Electric, API Motion and Portescap.

“IDC is a great addition to the Danaher Motion family,” says Tom Gross, Danaher’s group executive. “With an excellent brand name in linear actuation solutions and a team of people that has earned a reputation for quality and responsive service, IDC provides a building block for Danaher’s linear solutions going forward. Together with our linear offerings from BS&A, the former Warner Electric linear businesses, and our Kollmorgen linear motor offerings, we will be able to provide a full range of linear solutions. In addition, IDC’s precision table business is a natural fit with NEAT precision system capability.”

IDC was founded in 1975, and offers a wide range of mechanical and control products for automated positioning applications. IDC’s products are used in factory automation and OEM applications requiring control of linear position, thrust or speed. IDC pioneered the electric cylinder as a simpler, cleaner, more precise, more controllable and generally more cost-effective alternative to hydraulic and pneumatic positioning technology. For the 2001 fiscal year, IDC had revenues of $12.2 million.
